Here are some good sources to use for current events articles. Cooper recommended!
These sources include extensive coverage of the United States, and are either U.S.-based or international organizations. See below for a list of foreign sources. (In addition, feel free to use any source you wish, as long as it is a legitimate news source (as opposed to someone's blog, etc.). If you have questions or concerns about this, e-mail Mr. Cooper.)

New York Times: www.nytimes.com
Some of the material is free, but they are now charging for some as well. If you receive a print subscription at home, you should be able to get a free digital subscription.

Washington Post: www.washingtonpost.com
- free access, after a quick online registration

NPR (National Public Radio): www.npr.org
They have print versions and recordings of their radio broadcasts -- everything is free.

CNN: www.cnn.com
- decent print news coverage, along with video excerpts

Aljazeera: english.aljazeera.net
- excellent international coverage, though several stories will also have an American government component

BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation): www.bbc.co.uk/news
Similarly, the BBC has some great coverage of international events, but they also have a dedicated "U.S. and Canada" section.

Wall Street Journal: online.wsj.com/home-page
As with the New York Times, top news content is free, but they also charge for a lot of content. However, if you get a paper subscription at home, you should be able to register for free.

Huffington Post: www.huffingtonpost.com
- a decent online news source, with some good political coverage

Politico: www.politico.com
- good political coverage, as its name would imply...

The Economist: www.economist.com
As with the BBC, The Economist is a British publication, but they often cover matters involving U.S. government and politics.

Foreign News Sources
The following are a selection of media sources from other countries that may have an interesting perspective on matters involving the U.S. Feel free to use these (or others -- this list is not exhaustive) as well, as long as the article pertains in some way to U.S. Gov't. * This is just a start. Feel free to e-mail me to suggest other sources.
